Information for Members

The Associates of Military History was founded in December 1997 by Tristan Abbey. The Associates of Military History is dedicated to the study of history, although our discussion primarily is centered around the military aspect of history. Our membership is made up of veterans, students, historians, and enthusiasts. We are not primarily focused on one topic, such as the American Civil War, which gives us the flexibility other on-line history groups do not have. Although in comparison to larger, older groups, we are a smal organization, our size reduces the mass amounts of e-mail that are characteristic of other discussion groups. Membership is absolutely free.

The organization is setup in the following way: every member is requested to join the discussion group. The discussion group is free topic, as long as it's related to military history. The discussion group allows us to keep in contact with our members, notifying them of upcoming events, changes within the organization, and keeping law and order. Our website consists of book reviews, articles, and other writings all written by our members. In the works is a humanities journal, with articles ranging from fiction to military history; it is planned to be published periodically. Also in the formation is an A.M.H. Book Club.

In addition to the discussion group, we have the A.M.H. Newswire, Recording Tomorrow's History Today. This is a free service brought to you by the A.M.H. As mentioned before, a Book Club is also in the works. If you would like to assist with the humanities journal, please contact Tristan Abbey.
